On the August long weekend at Humber College in Toronto, Ontario, fans of electric wheelchair hockey were treated to an outstanding display of athleticism and excitement as they watched their favourite teams compete for the Whitecap Cup at the 2015 CEWHA Nationals, All weekend the players put on a show of skill and determination, pushing themselves each and every game.
On the Monday it came down to the Ottawa Capitals and the home team Toronto Rock to faceoff for the Gold medal and to hoist the Cup. The game was of epic proportions! Toronto took a commanding 3-0 lead after the 1st period, however that wouldn’t stop the Capitals from fighting back. They regrouped scoring 2 goals in the 2nd period to make it 3-2 for the Rock. The 3rd period was a nail-biter and in the dying minutes the Capitals were able to find a way to put the ball in the net! Tied at 3-3, the teams headed to Overtime. After an exhausting and stressful 5-minute Overtime where with every shot everyone held their breath, it was time for a Shootout. After 2 rounds and one shooter remaining for the Rock, if they scored they would win it all, Ramin Raounak took to center court for his attempt. He was able to tuck the ball behind the star goalie for the Capitals, Thalia McBride, who would later be awarded Top Goaltender, to win the game! The home team had done it, going undefeated at the tournament!
