CEWHA @ 2016 PowerHockey Cup

CEWHA @ 2016 PowerHockey Cup

Earlier this summer, the CEWHA was represented by the Ottawa Capitals (OPWHL) and the Toronto Rock (CEWHA Toronto) at the 2016 PowerHockey Cup as both teams travelled to Philadelphia, PA to compete in this exciting tournament, that took place from July 8-11 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It was a fun-filled weekend, with plenty of intense wheelchair hockey action that saw some of the top powerhockey teams faceoff against each other in a battle to win the Cup.

Finishing the tournament with a record of 5-3, the Toronto Rock placed 3rd, capturing the Bronze in a tough game versus the Michigan Mustangs. The Rock coaching staff, consisting of Seamus Britton, Emmett Britton, Kevin Humphrey, and Rustam Itekov, were presented with the award for Top Coaching Staff.

The Capitals played hard all weekend and had 3 strong wins, despite placing 5th overall. They had a number of well deserved award winners, Best Goalie – Thalia McBride, Best Defenceman – Scott Haycock, and Best Newcomer – Matt Gagnon.

Congratulations to both teams and the award recipients on their performances, you represented the CEWHA well!
